Bugsnax is available for free now for PS Plus through the PlayStation Store even if you don’t own a PS5. It can be claimed on your PSN account.

Bugsnax was announced as the first PS5 game to release on PS Plus. It will be available to claim until January 4, 2021. Sony is also releasing Description All-Stars as another PS Plus freebie in October while they have announced two free games for PS4 users this November that will be playable through backward compatibility on the PS5.

Bugsnax makes it one of the first games to release on PS Plus for subscribers. Sadly, only the PS5 version is being offered for free while there is nothing on the PS4 version. You can head over to the PlayStation Store to claim and add Bugsnax to your PS5 library.

Here is a description of the game as listed on the PlayStation Store.

Bugsnax takes you on a whimsical adventure to Snaktooth Island, home of the legendary half-bug half-snack creatures, Bugsnax. Invited by intrepid explorer Elizabert Megafig, you arrive to discover your host nowhere to be found, her camp in shambles, and her followers scattered across the island alone… and hungry!

It’s up to you to solve the mysteries of Snaktooth Island: What happened to Lizbert? What are Bugsnax and where do they come from? But most of all, why do they taste SO GOOD?

– Discover, hunt, and capture all 100 different species of Bugsnax using a variety of contraptions and bait!
– Explore the diverse biomes of Snaktooth Island to track down and reunite the inhabitants of Snaxburg.
– Follow every lead to learn more about Lizbert’s band of misfits and the mysteries of Snaktooth Island.
– Stuff your new friends with Bugsnax to customize them with countless new looks.

As confirmed through the PlayStation Store, while the PS4 owners of the game will get a free upgrade on PS5, it won’t apply to the PS5 owners. Even if you own Bugsnax on PS5 through PS Plus, it is not playble on the PS4.
