Europe’s first week sales numbers for Sony Interactive Entertainment and Team Asobi’s 3D platformer, Astro Bot, are “really strong”, based on the latest information.
During the Gameindustry.biz podcast, host Chris Dring had some positive information to share regarding the sales numbers for Astro Bot in Europe. He revealed that the 3D platformer ended up being the best selling game during its first week since launch, with “really strong” numbers.
According to Dring, Astro Bot’s sales were 2% higher than those of Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, 52% bigger than Crash 4, 100% bigger than Sonic Frontiers, 48% smaller than the Spyro Reignited Trilogy remake, and 59% smaller than the Crash Trillogy remake during the aligned period from release. He also shared that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 turned out to be the biggest new release hit in Europe.
Previously, Dring had also stated that Astro Bot had become the fastest selling original platformer outside of Mario from the last 10 years in the UK, making it a bigger franchise than Sonic, Crash, Yoshi, and Kirby. As per him, the game had sold very well in the country. Meanwhile, things have also been looking bright for Astro Bot in the US. Mat Piscatella, Executive Director and Video Game Industry Advisor at Circana (NPD), had shared that, across both physical and digital sales, Astro Bot ranked second in terms of unit sales in the US for the week ending September 7, 2024, trailing only NBA 2K25. Additionally, he mentioned that the Astro Bot DualSense controller was the week’s best-selling accessory.
Those who have already finished the game and discovered all of Astro Bot’s hidden secrets are likely carving for more. They need not worry, however, as the game is set to receive free DLC in the near future that will feature brand new VIP bots to rescue. This was revealed by Astro Bot creative director and producer Nicolas Doucet during an interview on the Quest Daily YouTube channel.
