Bandai Namco is currently in the process of developing multiple new titles in its popular Tekken fighting game series.
In its financial Q&A, Bandai Namco stated that it plans to release new titles in the Tekken series and joint development with FromSoftware from the next fiscal year onwards. The publisher is also planning to release Armored Core 6 and other titles developed by overseas studios.
It’s hard to say whether the mention of “new titles” in the Tekken series is an error in translation or whether the publisher does indeed have multiple entries planned. Perhaps there are some spin-offs planned for release alongside the mainline entry, Tekken 8. On the other hand, it may be referring to a re-release of Tekken 7 bundled with all DLC content before the arrival of the next entry.
The Tekken producer, Katsuhiro Harada, has previously stated that he is currently working on multiple new projects, including Tekken 8. Japanese publication 4Gamer asked a number of game creators involved in the production of popular games about their aspirations for the year 2023. In his response, Harada stated that he is currently involved in the development of multiple titles, one of which is the recently announced Tekken 8.
Harada mentioned that there’s still plenty of work left on Tekken 8, and development will take some time. That said, he remained confident that the development team is doing its best. Though, he added that he’s concerned that he may not have enough time to do what he wants to do as a game developer. We certainly hope that Harada is afforded enough time to make the game he looks forward to making.
Tekken 8 is an upcoming fighting game developed and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It is set to be released for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S as the eighth main installment in the Tekken series.
