Blood Message Devs Detail Ps5 Pro Support And Unreal Engine 5 Features

by Ali Haider

Developer 24 Entertainment has shared new technical details about Blood Message, confirming that the upcoming action adventure is already being tested on PlayStation 5 Pro while revealing more about the Unreal Engine 5 technologies powering the game.

As shared by Digital Foundry, the studio recently showcased an uninterrupted 18-minute gameplay sequence from an early chapter titled The Letter. Although the footage represents an early build, it highlights the game’s emphasis on brutal melee combat, stealth mechanics, cinematic traversal, and highly detailed environments.

According to 24 Entertainment, Unreal Engine 5 was chosen after evaluating several engines, including Unity, because it offered the visual fidelity, physical realism, and cinematic presentation needed for a linear, narrative-driven experience.

The developer confirmed that Blood Message uses several of Unreal Engine 5’s flagship technologies, including Lumen, Nanite, and Virtual Shadow Maps, alongside custom modifications. Lumen provides dynamic global illumination throughout the game, allowing natural light to bounce realistically through interiors, while Nanite helps maintain detailed environments without noticeable level-of-detail transitions.

The studio also highlighted its work on physics and environmental simulation. Real-world locations were photographed and scanned to create physically based materials such as brick, leather, cloth, and parchment, all of which respond naturally to changing lighting conditions. Dynamic effects including volumetric lighting, destructible environments, airborne dust, reactive wildlife, and fluid simulation are designed to make each location feel more authentic.

One gameplay sequence demonstrates the fluid simulation technology with a rat running through shallow water, creating ripples that realistically interact with surrounding surfaces. Similar simulation systems are also planned for snow and sand, alongside dynamic weather and cloud technology.

24 Entertainment also addressed platform-specific enhancements. The developer confirmed it has already experimented with PlayStation 5 Pro’s PSSR upscaling technology and the console’s ray tracing capabilities, although it said the final implementation of those features has not yet been decided.

The PC version is also being evaluated with real-time path tracing technology. The studio has not confirmed how or where path tracing will be used in the final release.

Blood Message is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
