Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 Reportedly Appear on PlayStation Servers Ahead of Potential Announcement

Fresh evidence has emerged suggesting that Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II could soon be heading to modern PlayStation platforms.

According to PlayStation Game Size, both Call of Duty: Black Ops titles have appeared on PlayStation’s servers for PS4 and PS5. The account claims the releases do not appear to be full remasters, but rather straightforward ports similar to Rockstar Games’ re-release of Red Dead Redemption. It also suggested that the packages include content beyond the single-player campaigns, indicating that players may receive access to additional modes if the releases move forward.

No official announcement has been made by Activision, and the appearance of the games on PlayStation’s backend servers does not guarantee an imminent launch. However, such discoveries have frequently preceded official reveals in the past.

The report follows earlier developments involving both games. Recently, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II received new age ratings in South Korea, prompting speculation that Activision was preparing new releases of the popular entries. Ratings board filings are often viewed as indicators that a title is approaching announcement or release, although publishers do not always move forward with projects immediately after classification.
