After the release of Mario Tennis Fever, Camelot Software Planning may be working on a new Mario Golf game for the Nintendo Switch 2.
According to the company profile of Camelot Software Planning on Crunchbase, the studio’s employees are once again showing high interest in 4K display technology and wireless communication. Research on these technologies indicates that the developer may be working on a new Mario Golf game for the Nintendo Switch 2.
The last time Camelot Software Planning employees showed high interest in 4K display technology was in July, 2025. It was later confirmed in January, 2026, that the studio had been working on Mario Tennis Fever for the Nintendo Switch 2. The renewed interest in 4K display technology suggests that another title is on the horizon, likely a new Mario Golf game for Nintendo’s current-gen console.
For the uninitiated, Mario Tennis Fever was released on February 12, 2026, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. It introduces the new Fever Racket system, which allows players to unleash powerful Fever Shots with a variety of special effects. The game also incorporates themes and mechanics inspired by Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Its Adventure mode follows the Mario cast after they are transformed into babies and must relearn the sport of tennis.
Players compete in tennis matches using a roster of 38 playable characters, the largest in the series to date, including the debut of Baby Waluigi. The game features 30 unique rackets, each offering distinct abilities through the Fever system. Several gameplay modes are available, including Tournament, Trial Towers, and Mix It Up. Tournament mode includes live commentary from the Talking Flower, while Trial Towers challenges players to complete a series of increasingly difficult matches as they climb a tower. Mix It Up offers a variety of alternate game types and gimmick matches, such as feeding Piranha Plants during Forest Court Match or playing on the Wonder Court, where Wonder Effects inspired by Super Mario Bros Wonder alter gameplay.
