Cyberpunk 2077 Major Story Expansion Script Has Already Leaked Online

by Salal Awan

Cyberpunk 2077 might be a little controversial since it launched back in 2020 but that hasn’t stopped CD Projekt Red from developing a major story expansion.

In a recent investors’ presentation, the studio described this as “a large, story-driven expansion” for Cyberpunk 2077. They are also planning to release further updates and refinements to the base game after launching the PS5 and Xbox Series versions in February this year.

However, the last major update might have brought a lot more to light than CD Projekt Red would have wanted, as the entire script from the first major story expansion was found hidden in the game files. It has been discovered by fans who were trying to determine the content of the upcoming updates, although it was later removed. A backup is available to view online but be careful as it might contain spoilers.

It turns out that most, if not the entirety of the script, for the major Cyberpunk 2077 expansion are contained in the datamined files. As a result, it is now possible to read it ahead of the launch of the expansion in 2023. While there is always the chance that plans might change and the final expansion will be different, it still provides an insight into the direction for the game that CD Projekt Red planned to take next.

If you don’t mind spoilers, the script is available online and it manages to showcase some of the plot threads from the main story being resolved. Since the expansion is currently in full production and CD Projekt Red has stated that they plan to start the marketing for it beginning in the second half of 2022, we can expect to see a trailer for it soon. In this case, we might be able to verify if the leaked files are indeed the real deal.
