Days Gone Sold More Than 8 Million Copies, Says Game Director

Days Gone game director Jeff Ross has commented on the sales success of their games revealing it has sold more than 8 million copies.

Days Gone was a critically panned game at launch but it was nowhere close to a commercial disappointment. Strangely, Sony failed to disclose the sales figure for the game even though it continued to chart in the list of the best-selling games on NPD. They have done it for their new IPs like Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Zero Dawn, but perhaps due to the critically panned review scores, they didn’t highlight it for Days Gone.

The game director, Jeff Ross, left the studio along with the Creative Director at Sony Bend Studio. It was later revealed that they had pitched a sequel for the game to Sony but it wasn’t greenlighted and instead the studio is working on a brand new IP.

Days Gone also went on to sell more than a million copies on Steam ranking among the best-selling games published by Sony on Steam along with Horizon Zero Dawn. All of this hasn’t appeared to impress Sony for some reason who continue to tout Ghost of Tsushima as the poster child for success. One strange omission is The Last of Us Part 2, which was another critically acclaimed commercial success that received a sales update after launch week and then nothing afterward.
