The first gameplay footage of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots running as part of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 has appeared online following a recent livestream from a Japanese YouTuber.
Clips from the broadcast quickly began circulating online, giving fans an early look at the long-awaited modern release of the 2008 stealth-action title. It appears that the in-game iPod feature is still included in this version of the game, despite questions surrounding licensed content and legacy features in older Metal Gear releases.
Originally launched exclusively for the PlayStation 3, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots served as the conclusion to Solid Snake’s storyline. Set in a future shaped by private military corporations and nanotechnology-driven warfare, the game follows an aging “Old Snake” on a final mission to eliminate Liquid Ocelot.
The title marked a major gameplay shift for the franchise by introducing over-the-shoulder shooting mechanics alongside expanded stealth systems such as the OctoCamo suit. It also became known for its lengthy cinematic sequences that attempted to resolve many of the series’ long-running story threads.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is expected to bring several previously platform-locked entries in the franchise to modern hardware. Alongside Metal Gear Solid 4, the collection will also include Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel.
Konami has positioned the compilation as both a re-release package and a preservation effort for the series, with additional bonus materials including digital soundtracks, screenplay books, and lore archives tied to Hideo Kojima’s tactical espionage franchise.
