Forza Horizon 6 Xbox Series, PC, and Steam Deck Comparison Highlights Strong Optimization

A new technical comparison for Forza Horizon 6 has highlighted the visual and performance differences among Xbox Series consoles, PC, and handheld systems such as the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. Early impressions point toward what many are calling one of the best-optimized racing games released this year.

On Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, Forza Horizon 6 includes both Quality and Performance display modes. Similar to Forza Horizon 5, the Performance mode lowers settings such as lighting quality, level of detail, and resolution in order to maintain a smoother 60fps experience across both systems.

The PC version introduces additional graphical features not available on consoles, including partial ray-traced reflections and ray-traced lighting. While the implementation is limited in some areas, the added effects reportedly make a noticeable difference depending on the environment and time of day.

Performance on PC appears to be particularly strong. According to the comparison, the game can maintain 60 fps on high settings with an RTX 3050, suggesting that a wide range of hardware configurations can run it smoothly without major compromises.

Higher-end RTX 50-series GPUs push performance even further. Systems equipped with GPUs starting with the RTX 5060 Ti are reportedly capable of running the game at 4K on Ultra settings with ray tracing enabled, while exceeding 150 fps using DLSS and Multi-Frame Generation.

Handheld PC performance is more mixed but still impressive given the scale of the game. The Steam Deck reportedly stays above 30 fps on low settings, though some frame-rate dips can occur. The Xbox Ally delivers similar performance at 1080p, while the Ally X can occasionally approach 60 fps with comparable settings. Despite the reductions, the game is said to remain visually impressive even on lower presets.

Released on May 19, 2026, Forza Horizon 6 was developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios for Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC. A PlayStation 5 release is planned for later this year.

Set in a fictionalized version of Japan, the game features a large open-world map that includes urban locations inspired by Tokyo, as well as rural regions surrounding Mount Fuji. Players begin as tourists entering the Horizon Festival before progressing through street races, Touge Battles, and other competitive events across the map.
