The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a 2023 asymmetrical survival horror game developed by Sumo Nottingham and published by Gun Interactive, based on the 1974 film of the same name. Eight victims try to escape from a family of cannibals that is attempting to catch and kill them before they can. The game was released on August 18, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and was also available on Xbox Game Pass the same day.
The plot follows Ana Flores and her college friends as they search for her missing sister, Maria, near the fictional town of Newt, Texas, where they are captured by the Slaughter family, a group of cannibal maniacs. In each match, players assume the role of either a family member or a victim, with three family members and four victims playable, totaling seven players per match. Matches take place on one of five maps: the Slaughter family house, a gas station, a slaughterhouse, a mill, and Nancy’s house. Each map has day and night variations, changing the lighting and atmosphere, and all maps feature a basement where the victims and Leatherface begin the match.
