Atari, Pipeworks, and Toho International have announced Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered, bringing the cult-favorite kaiju fighting game back to modern platforms on November 3, 2026.
The remastered release will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, with a digital price of $29.99. Physical editions are also available for pre-order starting today, priced at $29.99 on PlayStation 5 and $39.99 on Nintendo Switch 2.
Originally released in 2002, Destroy All Monsters Melee earned a dedicated following thanks to its large-scale monster battles and highly destructible environments. The new version has been rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5, with Atari and Pipeworks positioning it as a modern recreation that preserves the gameplay of the original while updating the presentation and features for current hardware.
Players will once again take control of some of the most recognizable monsters from the Godzilla franchise, including fan-favorite Mechagodzilla from the Showa era. Battles unfold across urban locations such as Tokyo and San Francisco, where towering monsters can level buildings, throw environmental objects, and unleash signature attacks in an effort to become the last kaiju standing.
The remaster retains the core arena-fighting gameplay that made the original popular, blending direct combat with large-scale destruction. Players can earn points through combat effectiveness as well as by demolishing cities during battles, creating a mix of strategic fighting and environmental chaos.
According to Pipeworks, the project was designed to remain highly faithful to the original game while taking advantage of modern technology. The studio states that the remaster maintains 99 percent mechanical fidelity to the 2002 release while introducing visual and technical enhancements.
Among the new additions are 4K support, online matchmaking, modern controller haptic integration, and a redesigned unlock system that replaces the original progression structure with a currency-based approach. These updates are intended to make the experience more accessible while preserving the feel of the classic release.
Pipeworks CEO Lindsay Gupton described the project as an opportunity to revisit the studio’s original vision using contemporary development tools, while Atari Chief Creative Officer Mike Mika highlighted the significance of reuniting the original publisher and developer to bring the title back to modern audiences.
