The release of the latest entry in Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games’ GTA series, GTA VI, may happen sometime within the year 2024.

In its Fourth Quarter 2023 earnings call, Take-Two Interactive hinted at the release of GTA VI in the year 2024. Fiscal Year 2025 is a highly anticipated year for the company. For the last several years, the company has been preparing its business to release an incredibly robust pipeline of projects that it believes will take it to even greater levels of success.

In Fiscal 2025, Take-Two Interactive expects to enter a new era by launching several groundbreaking titles that it believes will set new standards in the games industry and enable it to achieve over $8 billion in Net Bookings and over $1 billion in Adjusted Unrestricted Operating Cash Flow. The company expects to sustain this momentum by delivering additional growth in its operating results in Fiscal 2026 and beyond.

The mention of the launch of “groundbreaking titles” in the Fiscal Year 2025 appears to be referring to GTA VI, which is the company’s most important franchise. The fiscal year takes place between April, 2024 and March, 2025, and it is, therefore, likely that the game may hit store shelves sometime during the remainder of 2024 or the first quarter of 2025.

Previously, GTAForums member Tez2, who had earlier shared insight into the development of titles at Rockstar Games, had also stated that the studio is targeting a holiday 2024 release for GTA 6, with DLC to follow. According to them, an announcement in this regard is expected to happen sometime later this year. However, they cautioned that the release of GTA 6 has been pushed back multiple times in the past few years, and that it may even slip into early 2025. Holiday 2024 is the current release window that Rockstar Games is aiming for, as per them.

In Tez2’s opinion, a GTA 6 announcement is a given this year. They believe that the upper management is not in a position to delay the game’s release further to Holiday 2025/early 2026. As a result, cutting unfinished portions of the game from the launch build and releasing them as DLC post-launch may be more sustainable for management instead of delaying the game in its entirety.
