Halo Studios Corrects PS5 Split-Screen Requirement for Halo: Campaign Evolved

Halo Studios has issued a correction regarding the PlayStation 5 requirements for local split-screen co-op in Halo: Campaign Evolved.

The clarification comes after the studio’s previously published Q&A stated that both players would need active PlayStation Plus subscriptions and linked Microsoft accounts to play split-screen on PS5.

In a post on social media, the official Halo account acknowledged the mistake, stating: “We incorrectly stated that PlayStation Plus is required for local co-op splitscreen play. Local splitscreen co-op requires a PlayStation account for each player but does not require a PlayStation Plus account.”

The earlier FAQ had said: “If you’re playing split-screen on PlayStation 5®, both accounts will need to have PlayStation Plus and be linked to a Microsoft account. Having these active PlayStation Plus subscriptions will also provide access to online co-op play.”

With the updated guidance, local split-screen co-op on PS5 only requires each player to have their own PlayStation account. PlayStation Plus is not needed for local multiplayer.

Halo Studios has not indicated any changes to the game’s Microsoft account requirements. According to the Q&A, players on all platforms will still need a Microsoft account and Xbox Gamertag to play Halo: Campaign Evolved, enabling cross-platform play and cross-platform progression.

Halo: Campaign Evolved launches on July 28, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows.
