Deep Silver and Warhorse Studios’ latest action role-playing game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, had a development budget of close to 41 million US Dollars.
During an interview with game journalist and content creator Destin Legarie, Sir Tobi, the International PR Manager for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 at Warhorse Studios, was asked about the game’s rumored development budget of 41 million US Dollars, which had been making the rounds on the internet. In response, he said that the development budget is always a thing where it depends on how one looks at the numbers.
According to Tobi, the figure of 41 million US Dollars that has been floating around the internet as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s development budget is “not completely wrong”. Without giving any specifics, he said that it’s a double digit number (in millions) that’s “not low”, and that it’s different from the budget numbers seen for “most of the Western products”.
It’s unclear as to why the originally quoted figure of around 1 billion crowns (roughly 41 million US Dollars) for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s development budget, which came from an interview with the game’s director, Daniel Vavra, was referred to as a rumored number. Nevertheless, as per Legarie’s assessment of Tobi’s response, the action role-playing game did indeed take close to 41 million US Dollars to make.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 sold over 1 million copies within the first 24 hours of its release and approached sales of 2 million copies in just over a week. The medieval RPG’s performance on Steam has been particularly impressive, reaching a peak of 256,206 concurrent players, which highlights its rapid acceptance among the PC audience. Parent company Embracer noted that the game’s success is a testament to the dedication of Warhorse Studios, The company expressed confidence that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will continue to generate significant revenue for years to come.
The action role-playing game is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
