SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio made waves during yesterday’s PlayStation State of Play by surprise-dropping a playable demo for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. The demo, available immediately on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, gives fans a raucous preview of Majima’s swashbuckling antics ahead of the game’s February 21, 2025 launch.
Weighing in at 13.539 GB, the Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii demo lets players step into the boots of ex-yakuza legend Goro Majima as he trades katana for cutlass in a chaotic modern-day pirate tale. Highlights include:
- Exploring a chunk of Honolulu’s sprawling map.
- Testing Majima’s dual “Sea Dog” and “Mad Dog” combat styles.
- Naval battles in the Pirates’ Coliseum, a secret arena on the lawless island of Madlantis.
Notably, progress from the demo will not carry over to the full game, so players can cut loose without consequence. A launch trailer showcases the demo’s frenetic mix of swordplay, ship combat, and Majima’s trademark madness.
The full game, available for pre-order on PlayStation, Xbox, Windows, and Steam, offers early adopters two crewmates—Ichiban Kasuga and Nancy—alongside outfits letting Majima cosplay as Kasuga. An English voice-over patch will also drop on launch day, featuring what SEGA calls “an amazing cast” bringing the story to life.
