Marvel’s Blade developer Jean-Luc Monnet has responded to fan concerns regarding the game’s absence from the recent Xbox Games Showcase 2026.
During Giant Bomb’s Xbox Games Showcase 2026 video, known insider and co-host Jeff Grubb was asked if the Arkane Studios Lyon-developed Marvel’s Blade “just dead?” In response, he speculated that the game “might be dead.” Some fans misunderstood this as confirmation that the project is indeed canceled, leading to a lot of confusion. Later, Grubb took to Twitter/X to clarify that he was merely speculating at the time, and having investigated since then, he learned “there are reasons we haven’t seen [Marvel’s Blade], but those reasons are not because there are problems with the game. Not dead.”
Fellow insider Shpeshal_Nick mentioned on Twitter/X that a source of his recently told him that while Marvel’s Blade shouldn’t be expected to make an appearance at Xbox Games Showcase 2026, the game is “alive and coming along very well.”
The confusion made its way to Arkhane Studios Lyon Lead Concept Artist and Art Director Assistant Jean-Luc Monnet, as a fan directly addressed him on Twitter/X, asking whether the development team is “alive.” He briefly responded by sharing Breaking Bad’s “Let us cook” meme, confirming that the game is still very much in development.
Just 4 months ago, Arkane Studios posted about job listings for the positions of Technical Character Artist, Senior Game Designer and Level Designer to “craft unforgettable gameplay and immersive experiences on our most ambitious project yet.” As seen below, the post was accompanied by a key art from Marvel’s Blade.

Back in July, 2025, a report from Pappers Enterprises on the financials of Arkane Studios claimed that the studio’s estimated period for obtaining final approval for the release of its current project, Marvel’s Blade, is November, 2027. It was also mentioned that the game entered production phase at the end of 2024, following prototype validation.
