The motion capture for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 appears to have been completed, and the game’s release date is expected to be announced soon.
During a recent AMA session, the voice actor for Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Yuri Lowenthal, has revealed that his motion capture and voice acting duties for the character have been completed, suggesting that the game’s motion capture and voice recording sessions have been wrapped up.
Going by this information as well as recent reports, a release date announcement for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 should happen soon. In his response to a tweet, Venom voice actor Tony Todd hinted at the release date for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 5. According to him, it looks like the game will be available for PS5 in the month of September, 2023. Similarly, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier recently stated that Insomniac Games is targeting a September, 2023 release window for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Todd further stated that Sony Interactive Entertainment will be conducting a massive publicity campaign for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in the month of August, 2023. Based on what he has been told, commercials for the game will begin airing during that month. Todd urged fans to have patience and look forward to their favorite game hitting store shelves soon.
It was also reported that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 may be featuring brand new dialogue technology. Speaking during a live stream session on Insomniac Games’ official Twitch channel, lead engine programmer Elan Ruskin revealed that the studio’s next game, likely Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and possibly even Wolverine, will feature some “very cool” dialogue technology. As for what this new dialogue technology does is unknown for now. It’s likely that the studio will show it off during the rumored pre-E3 2023 PlayStation showcase alongside other first-party projects that are in development.
