Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1 Update 2.0 Adds Widescreen and 4K Support

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1 received a new Update 2.0 on September 25, 2024, specifically for Steam users.

This update introduces a range of improvements, particularly in display settings, control customization, and mouse support across the collection. While the release for other platforms is yet to be announced, the changes apply primarily to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and minor fixes for Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

  • Screen Settings:
    • A new Resolution setting has been added to the Options menu, offering three modes: Original Mode, Adjusted Mode, and Custom.
    • Original Mode maintains the game’s original resolution, while Adjusted Mode scales the resolution up to FHD, WQHD, or 4K, depending on your monitor’s capabilities.
    • Custom Mode allows users to manually set internal resolution and upscaling options.
  • Control Settings:
    • Added customization for both controller and keyboard & mouse settings. Players can switch between Layout A (pre-update controls), Layout B (post-update controls), or fully customize their layouts.
  • Mouse Support:
    • Introduced mouse controls, including mouse sensitivity settings, allowing for more precise gameplay on PC.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater – Master Collection Version

  • Screen Settings:
    • Similar to MGS2, screen settings have been expanded to include Original Mode, Adjusted Mode, and Custom Mode with internal resolution and upscaling options.
    • Custom Mode allows players to configure the game’s rendering resolution, upscaling methods, and movie resolutions to suit their hardware.
  • Control Settings:
    • Added Controller Settings and Keyboard & Mouse Settings with customizable layouts, similar to MGS2. Players can adjust the layout for better compatibility with their playstyle.
  • Mouse Sensitivity:
    • Adjustments can now be made to mouse sensitivity when zooming in/out using the scroll wheel.

Metal Gear & Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

  • Fixed some minor issues related to performance and stability.

General Fixes and Additional Features:

  • Minor Issues: Across all games in the collection, minor issues have been resolved, improving the overall stability of the games.
  • Steam Trading Cards/Badges: Enabled support for Steam Trading Cards and Badges, allowing players to earn and collect them while playing.

This update significantly enhances the PC version by providing more customization options for both visuals and controls, ensuring that players can better tailor their experience to their hardware and playstyle. Other platforms are expected to receive these updates at a later date.
