Modern Warfare Won’t Launch Digitally On PSN In Russia

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare won’t be available to play digitally on the PlayStation Store but still release on Xbox Live and Steam in Russia.

Modern Warfare is a gritty reboot for the Call of Duty series. It is not just a full reboot but also makes some important gameplay changes including for the multiplayer. As the Russians are being portrayed as the bad guys in the game, PlayStation Russia is refusing to allow a digital release of the game on PlayStation Store.

An official statement was posted by Call of Duty Russia which says the following: “Activision Russia has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will not be released on PlayStation Russia Store digitally because Sony Interactive Russia is refusing to release it.”

Activision Russia has also shared a statement on this situation and confirmed that while the game won’t launch digitally on PlayStation Store in Russia, it will be available to play on PC and Xbox Live.

“At the heart of Modern Warfare is a fully fictional story, carefully crafted to please all players. SIE decided not to sell the game in the Russian PS Store. We look forward to the release of the game in digital form for PC and Xbox on October 25th.”

Call of Duty: MW is expected to arrive on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 25.
