Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 19.86 million units worldwide during its first fiscal year on the market, marking a strong debut for the company’s current-generation platform.
The latest figures were shared as part of Nintendo’s fiscal year 2026 financial results. According to the company, Switch 2 shipments increased by 2.49 million units during the most recent quarter alone. Quarterly shipment data shows consistent momentum throughout the year, including 5.82 million units in Q1, 4.54 million in Q2, 7.01 million in Q3, and 2.49 million in Q4.
Nintendo stated that Switch 2 sell through surpassed the original Nintendo Switch during its first full fiscal year, highlighting stronger launch performance compared to its predecessor. Combined with the original Switch family, Nintendo sold 23.66 million hardware units across the fiscal year.
The company’s dedicated video game platform business generated ¥2.23 trillion in revenue, driven largely by the launch of the new hardware and strong software performance. Overall consolidated net sales nearly doubled year over year, reaching ¥2.31 trillion, while operating profit rose 27.5% to ¥360.1 billion.
Software sales also remained strong across both Switch platforms. Nintendo sold 48.71 million Switch 2 software units during FY2026, with titles such as Mario Kart World reaching 8.85 million units sold. Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition also posted multi million sales figures.
Looking ahead, Nintendo forecasts Switch 2 hardware sales of 16.5 million units for FY2027, while software sales for the platform are expected to increase to 60 million units.
