Persona 5 Royal will be available for PS4 in Japan starting today. It is an expansion to the original game so how long will it take to beat it?
Persona 5 was already a large JRPG with a lot of content. It could take between 60 to 100 hours just to beat the main story. Since the Royal expansion has added a whole new set of story content to the end chapter, it should be considerably larger as well. This doesn’t appear to be the case though as per the game developer.
Persona 5 Royal should be a larger game if we go by this logic, but how long is the game exactly since there is no support for a save data transfer just to enjoy the new content.
In an interview that was published by Dengeki PlayStation, it was revealed by one of the developers working on the game that it will take the same time as the original P5 in terms of game length. According to the developer, this is possible thanks to some technical improvements and some reworked design decisions so the pacing of the game is faster.
Recently the file size of Persona 5 Royal was discovered and it appears the game is larger than the original. Famitsu has also shared the first review for P5 Royal giving it a lower score than the original game.
Atlus is also working on a spin-off for Persona 5. This spin-off has received a gameplay trailer recently with a release date of February 20, 2020, in Japan. It will also launch in the West but no date has been confirmed so far. In addition to this, Persona 5 Royal will be localized and released in English in Spring 2020.
