Pokemon Gen 10 Will Allegedly Be Nintendo Switch 2 Exclusive, Location Revealed

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company’s Pokemon Gen 10, codenamed Gaia, will be exclusive to the upcoming Switch 2, based on a new rumor.

Twitter/X user CentroLeaks, who is known as a source for Pokemon leaks, rumors and news, claims that Pokémon Gen 10, codenamed Gaia, is planned for release next year exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.  As per them, the game will take place on the Cyclade Islands, which are part of the Greek island chain (see below).

Going by the above location, it seems like the next Pokemon adventure will involve plenty traveling around on water. As a result, the game may feature several variants of the Hoenn Pokemon, as that region also contains plenty of water. The development team may do some interesting things with the third legendary, such as having Titan-based ones like Cronus or Typhon.

Back in November, 2024, 2 years after Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s release on November 18, 2022, it was reported that its sales had exceeded 8.3 million copies in Japan, making it the best selling game in the Pokemon series. Up until that point, Pokémon Red and Green was the best-selling game in the country in the history of the series . This was the first time in its 28-year history that the record had been broken. It will be interesting see whether Pokemon Gen 10 will be able to set a new sales record for the series.

Recently, in February, 2025, Mat Piscatella, Executive Director and Video Game Industry Analyst at Circana (NPD), had shared that Pokemon had an “amazing” year in the US, as it was the best-selling toy property of 2024. According to him, it was the only toy property to surpass 1 billion US Dollars in sales. This figure includes includes sales of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. While the stats shared by Piscatella are limited to the US, the franchise continues to be a massive success across the globe. In December 23, 2024, entertainment marketing firm GEM Partners had released the results of a comprehensive survey measuring the reach of entertainment brands across seven media formats, including video, books, and music. For the 2024 annual ranking, the Pokemon brand secured the top position with an impressive 65,578 points.
