PS5 is currently the only gaming platform that can run every title in the top 20 best selling games of the year 2024.
Matt Piscatella, Executive Director and Video Game Industry Advisor at Circana (NPD), has shared charts for the Year-to-Date ending May, 2024, top 20 best selling premium games in the U.S. in terms of Dollar sales. The list reveals that PS5 is the only platform that can run every premium title in the top 20 best selling games of 2024.

In terms of console exclusives, Helldivers 2 leads the way by taking the top spot, ahead of the popular Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. As far as PS5 exclusive titles go, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth comes in at #5, followed by Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at #14, Stellar Blade at #16, and Rise of the Ronin at #17. It’s likely that the three aforementioned titles will eventually arrive on PC, but, for now, they’re only playable on the PS5.
Meanwhile, in terms of active player base in the US, Fortnite came out on top during the month of May 2024, on PS5. It was followed by Call of Duty HQ, which is the hub application for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone.
