Halo series suffered through a lot of damage with controversies that surrounded the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo 5: Guardians. Microsoft is apparently planning a big comeback for the franchise according to a new report.
According to Windows Central editor Jez Corden, Halo is going to make a big comeback. He later added that while he hasn’t heard about any new rumor regarding the future of the series, he did hear about Microsoft investing big in the franchise and the studio that is currently developing it.
343 Industries was created after Bungie left the series in Microsoft’s hand and while they haven’t managed to bring it back to its peak popularity during the height of Xbox 360 generation, they haven’t manage to handle it with grace. The Master Cheif Collection suffered through a terrible launch and remained broken until last year when a big update was released for it.
It has been rumored that Microsoft is planning to bring Halo: The Master Cheif Collection to PC. They are also working on Halo Infinite for Xbox One and PC right now, which is apparently a cross-generation game that will also launch for the next-generation Xbox console.
There are a lot of rumors right now on where Microsoft is planning to take their Xbox division. They are reportedly working on multiple Xbox consoles and have plans to expand the Xbox Game Pass service to other platforms including Nintendo Switch. These are all rumors for now and nothing official has come out of it, so these should be taken with a grain of salt.
