KOEI TECMO America and Team NINJA have announced that their acclaimed open-world action RPG, Rise of the Ronin, will launch on Steam for Windows PC on March 11, 2025. Initially released on PlayStation 5, the game whisks players away to Japan during the chaotic Bakumatsu period in 1863, diving into a nation torn by internal strife and foreign threats. The Steam version has exclusive PC features like support for ultra-wide monitors, 8K resolution, 120fps, and advanced graphics enhancements.
Set during a pivotal time in Japanese history, Rise of the Ronin follows a masterless samurai (Ronin) as he navigates the collapse of the Tokugawa Shogunate. The game features a richly detailed open world that showcases iconic locations such as Edo, Kyoto, and Yokohama, all of which experienced significant cultural shifts due to Western influence and internal conflict.
Players will interact with historical figures like Ryoma Sakamoto. Their choices will shape the storyline and determine the game’s multiple endings. Decisions such as whether to ally with or assassinate key political figures add layers of moral complexity to the narrative.
