Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma has recently been rated for the Nintendo Switch and PC by ESRB providing an insight into its story and gameplay.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is an action role-playing game that offers an immersive experience on both PC and Nintendo Switch. The game’s rating highlights elements like fantasy violence, strong language, mild suggestive themes, and the use of alcohol. It also includes optional in-game purchases.
Players take on the role of a warrior who has lost their memory and is tasked with awakening ancient gods and cleansing a mysterious force called the Blight. The game is played from a third-person perspective, allowing players to explore lively villages, interact with a variety of characters, and take part in activities like farming and gathering resources. The story weaves together myth and adventure in a rich, fantastical world.
Combat in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is fast-paced and visually striking. Players wield swords and team up with companions to fight monsters like tanukis, wasps, and sprites. The melee combat features impactful sound effects, vibrant visual effects, and real-time health bars that drop as battles heat up. While the combat is energetic and fun, some scenes include mature visuals. For example, one female character wears a swimsuit that shows moderate cleavage, with subtle animation effects.
The game also includes scenes where alcohol is part of the story. In one instance, the main character participates in a ceremony involving sacred sake, and other characters show signs of being drunk, like flushed faces and slurred speech. Players can also buy and consume alcohol from a menu during gameplay. Additionally, the game contains strong language, including one instance of the word “a*shole.”
It’s worth noting that the Earth Dancer Edition of the game, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, has its own ESRB rating. This special edition may include extra content or changes specific to the platform.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will be released on May 30, 2025, for the PC and Nintendo Switch.
