Konami has announced that Silent Hill: Townfall will launch on PlayStation 5 and PC on September 24, marking the latest entry in the long-running horror franchise. The publisher unveiled a new trailer during PlayStation’s State of Play presentation, offering a closer look at the game’s story, characters, puzzles, and survival horror gameplay.

Developed by Screen Burn Interactive, Silent Hill: Townfall follows protagonist Simon as he finds himself trapped on the mysterious island of St. Amelia. While Konami is keeping most story details under wraps, the latest trailer introduces a new character named Zoe, a nurse who works at a local family clinic on the island. Zoe appears to recognize Simon despite him having no memory of either her or St. Amelia, adding another layer of mystery to the unfolding narrative.

The developers have emphasized that narrative-driven puzzles will play a central role throughout the experience. Rather than functioning as standalone gameplay challenges, the puzzles are designed to be closely tied to the story, with their solutions and setups revealing details about Simon’s situation and the town’s history. According to the development team, each puzzle was created alongside the game’s script to ensure it serves both gameplay and storytelling purposes.

The new footage also provides the first glimpse of one of the creatures inhabiting the Otherworld. As in previous Silent Hill titles, encounters will vary depending on the threat. Some enemies can be fought directly, while others require players to rely on stealth and evasion to survive. Simon can use his CRTV device and a peek mechanic to observe dangers ahead, helping him avoid detection and escape potentially deadly pursuits.

PlayStation 5-specific features are also being incorporated into the experience. Screen Burn Interactive says the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers will be used to simulate the feel of firearms, while haptic feedback will convey environmental details and nearby threats, including the heavy footsteps of approaching monsters. The game will additionally feature motion-controlled interactions, allowing players to physically manipulate the CRTV device to improve signal reception and solve certain gameplay challenges.

Konami also detailed the game’s available editions. Players who pre-order the Standard Edition will receive two cosmetic skins for the CRTV device: CRTV: Rusted and CRTV: Beach Edition. The Deluxe Edition includes those bonuses alongside an alternate outfit for Simon, an interactive digital artbook, a digital soundtrack, and 48-hour early access before launch.

Silent Hill: Townfall is available for pre-order now through the PlayStation Store. Following the releases of Silent Hill 2 in 2024 and Silent Hill f in 2025, the upcoming title continues Konami’s recent push to expand the franchise with new standalone stories and settings. The company says more details on the haunting events awaiting players in St. Amelia will be shared as the September launch approaches.
