Ubisoft has officially unveiled Rayman Legends Retold, a reimagined version of the acclaimed platformer that will launch on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1. Revealed during the latest State of Play presentation, the game reworks the original adventure with new visuals, expanded content, and additional story elements while retaining the fast-paced platforming that made Rayman Legends a fan favorite.
Set once again in the Glade of Dreams, the story follows Rayman and his allies as they confront a new threat spreading corruption across their world. Players will join Rayman, Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus, and Murphy on a journey through familiar and newly created locations as they attempt to rescue the Teensies and restore balance to the realm.
Rather than remaining entirely faithful to the original presentation, Rayman Legends Retold adopts a new 3D visual approach. Ubisoft says the game uses dynamic camera angles, redesigned environments, and enhanced cinematic sequences to create a more immersive experience. Built using the Snowdrop engine, the project aims to combine the visual style of earlier 3D Rayman titles with the side-scrolling gameplay that defined Rayman Legends.
The remaster also introduces a number of gameplay additions. Alongside returning levels from the original game, players can explore a brand-new realm and tackle four new music stages designed around rhythm-based platforming challenges. Ubisoft is also adding the Cave of Trials, a challenge-focused mode featuring free post-launch content and ongoing skill-based objectives.
Audio has received a significant overhaul as well. The soundtrack has been expanded by composers Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope, while fully voiced cinematics have been added throughout the adventure. Ubisoft says this marks the first time in the series that the main cast has been fully voiced, adding more personality and depth to the story.
Multiplayer remains a major component of the experience. Up to four players can team up locally in couch co-op, working together through the campaign while competing for collectibles and rescued Teensies. The competitive Kung Foot mode also returns with updated controls, new power-ups, and customizable rule sets.
Ubisoft has confirmed multiple editions for the game. The Standard Edition includes Rayman Legends Retold along with Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, which upgrades the 2011 platformer with 4K resolution, 60 FPS support, haptic feedback features on compatible controllers, and other quality-of-life improvements.
The Deluxe Edition includes everything from the Standard Edition alongside the Retro Pack, which adds four exclusive costumes for Rayman, Globox, Barbara, and Grand Minimus, as well as access to an in-game art gallery.
Players who pre-order either edition will receive the Hoodlum Havoc Pack, which includes two costumes inspired by Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc for Rayman and Globox.
