It appears that a batch of physical copies of Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games’ latest superhero game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, are having installation issues.
Several owners of physical copies of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are reporting issues with the game disc that prevent the installation progress from going past a certain percentage. The process tends to get stuck at the 36% mark.
It’s unclear whether this problem can be resolved via a patch, though one would certainly hope that is the case and that it’s not due to some kind of printing error. It’s a major disappointment for these users who paid for a working product. A recall of physical copies would be an inconvenience for both users and the publisher.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is an action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It’s based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, featuring a narrative inspired by the comics and various adaptations in other media. It’s the third installment in the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, following Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020). Peter Parker and Miles Morales face personal challenges while dealing with new threats, including Kraven the Hunter’s private militia turning New York City into a hunting ground for individuals with super powers and the Venom symbiote bonding with Parker, jeopardizing his personal relationships.
The gameplay builds on the previous games, focusing on the different playstyles of Peter Parker and Miles Morales as Spider-Men. It enhances their traversal and combat abilities, introducing new web-based gadgets and unlockable suits. The game also includes Parker’s symbiote suit with unique abilities. Aside from the main story, players can complete side-missions and find collectibles throughout the open world, switching between Parker and Morales for indivudual objectives.
