The Last of Us Part 1 resolution and frame rate target for the PS5 has been reported to be 1440p at 60 FPS, or the same as Uncharted Collection.
The Last of Us Part 1 remake appears to use the same technology that was used in Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. While technically it is an ambitious game that uses the latest iteration of the internal engine used by Naughty Dog, they appear to use their own visual setup for the game.
In an analysis by Digital Foundry, we learn some of the fundamental changes in the remake. One aspect that appears to be similar to the most recent outing by Naughty Dog is the resolution of The Last of Us Part 1 on PS5. They typically use 1440p as the base for their engine, and while the game looks exceptionally beautiful and clean due to their custom aliasing solution, it still doesn’t render at native 4K or close to it.
They have used this in the native PS5 upgrade for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection as well. Just like that, The Last of Us Part 1 is supposedly rendering at 1440p resolution presumably at 60 FPS.
In the official features, there is no mention of ray-tracing support so we can rule it out. Since Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection also supported 120 FPS, maybe Naughty Dog can bring this to The Last of Us Part 1 on PS5 as well.
Here are the PS5 exclusive features for The Last of Us Part 1.
- Enhanced visuals: Completely rebuilt using Naughty Dog’s latest PS5™ engine technology to improve every visual detail.
- Fast loading: Loading times are near instant thanks to the PS5 console’s SSD.
- Haptic feedback: The DualSense™ wireless controller supports haptic feedback for every weapon and environmental effects such as the sensation of falling rain.
- Adaptive triggers: Feel dynamic DualSense wireless controller trigger resistance for all The Last of Us iconic weapons, including Joel’s revolver and Ellie’s bow.

The Last of Us Part 1 is currently confirmed for the PS5 and PC. It will be out on September 2, 2022, for the PS5.
