The Last Of Us Part 2 PS5 Version Spotted On PS Store Back End, Announcement Likely Soon

A PS5 version of Sony Interactive Entertainment and Naughty Dog’s action adventure game, The Last of Us Part 2, has been spotted on the PlayStation Store back end, suggesting that an announcement is likely to happen sometime soon.

PlayStationSize on Twitter has discovered a PS5 version of The Last of Us Part 2 among recent database entries made to PlayStation Network servers. This is further evidence that a remastered version of the game exists, and is likely close to an official announcement.

The Linkedin profile of Mark Pajarillo, Lead Outsource Artist at Naughty Dog, had also indicated that The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered is currently in development. He had mentioned that he has been responsible for

Previously, during a recent interview with a Spanish YouTube channel, The Last of Us Part II composer, Gustavo Santaolalla, had hinted at a Director’s Cut or remastered version of the game being in development for PS5. During the interview, the interviewer mentioned to Santaolalla that he really appreciated seeing an in-game rendition of the composer in The Last of Us Part 2. Santaolalla responded by mentioning that in the “new version” of the game, players can actually go up to his in-game rendition and ask him to play certain songs. He then said that he could not give any further details. 

The Last of Us Part II is set five years after The Last of Us (2013). It focuses on two playable characters in a post-apocalyptic United States: Ellie, seeking revenge for a murder, and Abby, a soldier caught in a conflict between her militia and a religious cult. The game is played from a third-person perspective, as players take on human enemies and zombie-like creatures using firearms, improvised weapons, and stealth.
