Ubisoft Says Leaked Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Footage Is From Old Build

Ubisoft has addressed the recent leak tied to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, confirming that the footage circulating online does not reflect the current state of the game. The response comes after screenshots and a short clip began spreading across social media, prompting mixed reactions to the remake’s visuals.

The leak, which includes an approximately 11-second trailer, offered an early comparison between the 2013 original and the updated version. Side-by-side images highlighted noticeable changes in lighting, environmental detail, and scene composition. One comparison also showed a scoped-in shot of a ship that does not appear in the original cutscene, suggesting some sequences have been reworked.

Concerns around the visual quality of certain shots quickly followed, with some users pointing to rough-looking assets in the leaked material. Ubisoft moved to clarify the situation through its official Assassin’s Creed account, stating, “Hey! This is footage from an old internal version of the game. It’s unfortunate it got out, but the good news is you only have to wait one more day for the official reveal.”

The leak surfaced just ahead of the game’s scheduled showcase. Ubisoft has already confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will be fully revealed on April 23 at 6:00 PM CEST and 9:00 AM PDT, with the presentation set to air on YouTube and Twitch. Reports surrounding the event also suggest a possible Twitch Drops reward, with viewers who watch 20 minutes of the stream potentially receiving an in-game item called the Rufino pistol, though this has not been officially confirmed.
