Players who previously claimed Wasteland Remastered during a brief Xbox Store error can now access their replacement copies, with a deadline in place to secure the game. The corrected version has begun rolling out through the Xbox system, following earlier confirmation from inXile Entertainment that affected users would receive full, working licenses.
The initial issue stemmed from a listing error that temporarily made the game free, though the versions tied to that glitch were not playable. inXile addressed the situation at the time, stating, “A couple weeks ago an error made Wasteland Remastered free on the Microsoft/Xbox Store, but what people snagged before we fixed the glitch can’t actually be played. So, we’re giving them one that can.”
Now, those eligible will find the replacement copy available to claim through their Offers and Credits section on Xbox. The non-functional version is being removed from user libraries as part of the process. Players are required to claim the new copy before July 30, 2026, after which the offer will no longer be available.
Wasteland Remastered originally launched on February 25, 2020, for PC and Xbox One. Developed by Krome Studios in collaboration with inXile Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios, the title modernizes the 1988 classic with updated visuals, improved audio, and full voice acting while preserving its turn-based gameplay structure. Set in a post-apocalyptic North America, it follows a group of Desert Rangers investigating threats across a harsh desert landscape.
