Wasteland Remastered Free Store Error to Be Honored With Full Game Copies

inXile Entertainment has confirmed that players who briefly obtained Wasteland Remastered for free due to a store error will receive full copies of the game. The issue occurred on the Microsoft and Xbox Store, where the title was mistakenly listed as free for a limited period.

Addressing the situation, the developer stated, “A couple weeks ago an error made Wasteland Remastered free on the Microsoft/Xbox Store, but what people snagged before we fixed the glitch can’t actually be played. So, we’re giving them one that can.” The original licenses tied to the error reportedly resulted in non-functional versions of the game.

To resolve this, inXile confirmed that affected users will have the unusable version removed from their libraries and replaced with a proper copy. The studio explained, “If you were lucky enough to redeem it, you’ll soon see the (non-working) game removed from your library, and you’ll have a new copy to claim waiting for you in your Offers & Credits.”

Wasteland Remastered launched on February 25, 2020, for PC and Xbox One, developed by Krome Studios and inXile Entertainment, with publishing handled by Xbox Game Studios. The release modernized the original 1988 title with updated visuals, a revised soundtrack, and fully voiced dialogue, while retaining its turn-based gameplay and post-apocalyptic setting centered on the Desert Rangers.

With the developer opting to honor the mistake, players who claimed the game during the brief window will now receive a complete and playable version.
