Xbox may be set to make a brand new game announcement in a few days at Gamescom 2026, according to a new rumor.
Known insider Nate the Hate took to Twitter/X to respond to a question regarding possible surprises planned for Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2026. In his reply, he mentioned that he’s “heard of a neat Xbox announcement that should be at Gamescom.” He added that it’s something that has his “interest and curiosity piqued.”
In response to a Twitter/X user asking if the game in question is The Elder Scrolls VI, a StarCraft shooter, Wolfenstein 3, or a Fallout remaster, Nate said that he wasn’t referring to any of those games. He added that it’s much too soon to share, and that he’s “still working to confirm whether or not the game will have a definite Gamescom presence.”
When asked whether the announcement he referred to is for an already announced title like Marvel’s Blade or OD or a brand new game, Nate clarified that it was the latter. As for both of the aforementioned games, the insider didn’t have any information on whether they would be making an appearance at Gamescom 2026.
Regarding The Elder Scrolls, according to the LinkedIn profile of Griffin DeClaire, former Quest Designer at Bethesda Game Studios, the studio has an “Unreleased Elder Scrolls title” in early development. While this fits the description of The Elder Scrolls VI, the latter has been officially announced, and other developers have listed it with its actual title in their resume rather than using a placeholder name typically assigned to unannounced projects. This suggests that it may actually be an entirely different unannounced project that is being developed at Bethesda Game Studios alongside The Elder Scrolls VI.
During his time at Bethesda Game Studios, DeClaire created and maintained internal documentation regarding large swaths of lore/design ethos for an “Unreleased Elder Scrolls Title, and he was also heavily involved in the pitch/writing/quest implementation process for the project.
