Activision Will Continue Working On Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Series In Future

Activision will continue to work on the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series in the future, based on the latest information.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Series, Tony Hawk had a message to share with fans on his Instagram profile. He reminded everyone that the first game was released exactly 25 years ago today. At the time, his intention and expectation for the game was mostly for the enjoyment of skateboarders. He said that he had no idea it would transcend a niche market to become a massive success and arguably change the course of skateboarding’s popularity, and possibly even skate trick evolution.

Hawk mentioned that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater changed the course of his life, and is a big reason that he gets to ride his skateboard for a living to this very day. According to him, most of the featured characters are still out there representing skateboarding’s diversity in the best ways possible.

The pro skater shared a snippet of a motion capture session during the development phase of the first game in his post. He said that he poured himself into every aspect of the project because he believed him, his fellow skaters, and the development team at Activision were creating something exceptional. He expressed that he is immensely proud of the series that followed as well as their soundtracks. He thanked Activision, the now closed studio Neversoft, and everyone who played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater in those formative years.

Lastly, although he said he isn’t supposed to tease anything else about the future of the series, he revealed that it will have a future, confirming that a brand new entry is currently in development at Activision. This was previously hinted at by the official Twitter/X account for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Read about it here.
