After dropping the “Halo: The Endless” trademark, Xbox Game Studios and Halo Studios may be working on a PvE Halo experience.
In his new video, reliable leaker and content creator Sean Dubs TV has shared findings from his detective work on the recent developments and future direction of the Halo franchise. He pointed to trademark records showing that Microsoft voluntarily withdrew its application for “Halo: The Endless” in April, 2026. According to him, this is a noteworthy development because Microsoft had continued defending the trademark for years despite opposition from Amplitude Studios, the company behind the Endless franchise. Rather than allowing the application to expire naturally, Microsoft took steps to abandon it.
While there is no official confirmation that “Halo: The Endless” was intended to be the title of a future Halo game, Sean Dubs TV believes it is the rumored sequel to the Halo Infinite campaign that was later canceled. The timing of the trademark abandonment, combined with recent reports about canceled Halo projects, led him to speculate that Xbox may be shifting its plans for the franchise.
The content creator’s speculation is partly based on comments made by Halo Studios head Pierre Hintze during a March, 2026 interview with the STEM Educational Institute. When discussing what excites him about the future of gaming, the latter spoke positively about cooperative and MMO-style experiences.
“I see this as an opportunity because we can tell such more reinforced positive stories,” Hintze said. He also highlighted the appeal of cooperative gameplay, adding, “It is also incredibly rewarding if guys completing an objective or completing a raid in an MMO and see the solidarity and the help and support we can lend each other.”
This statement stood out to Sean Dubs TV because it focused less on traditional competitive multiplayer and more on cooperative experiences. As such, he suggested that Halo Studios may be working on something closer to a large-scale PvE game, potentially incorporating MMO-style elements and raid-like objectives.
