Pokémon fans feel divided over the new Pokémon movie which is a reimagining of the original animated feature. It was the first time Mewtwo was introduced and seeing it again in CGI is no doubt going to be a divisive experience.
The Pokémon Company has announced the 2019 animated feature and it is a reimagining of the first movie. The title is also the same with a small change. It is now called Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution and the first teaser trailer was recently shared by the company.

The first teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much about the movie but simply shows a CGI animated Mewtwo flying through the clouds. The new visuals give the movie a new look that closely resembles a video game instead of an animated feature. There are some minor variations made to the design of Mewtwo and lead to a completely never before seen look for this classic Pokémon.
While fans will be eagerly anticipating the release of the movie, there is also the fear about a potential backlash against it because it alters a beloved classic and no one is going to take it lightly. The quality of the movie will determine how it stands the test of time and if the creators are going back to the first one, does this mean that they will now remake all of the previous movies in the same style?
Pokémon fans are in a fit over this new trailer, and personally speaking, I am not a fan of it either. It is still early to reach a verdict on this animation and style, so we have to wait for the movie to release first before jumping to conclusions, or until more is shown from it.
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution will hit the theatres in Japan on July 12, 2019.
