Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced sold 2 million copies on its first day, giving the remake a strong launch across all platforms. Released on July 9, the game also reached several other milestones within its first 24 hours.
According to Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced was the most-watched game on Twitch on July 9 and peaked at 99,451 concurrent players on Steam. That figure marks the highest concurrent player count ever recorded for an Assassin’s Creed game on Valve’s platform.
Player reception has also been positive so far. The game currently has a 4.79 out of 5 rating on the PlayStation Store, 4.7 out of 5 on the Xbox Store, and a Mostly Positive user rating on Steam.
“Black Flag has always held a special place in the heart of the community, and ours,” said Martin Schelling, Head of the Assassin’s Creed brand. He added that bringing Edward Kenway’s adventure back was driven by the passion fans have shown for the original game, and said seeing 2 million players begin the journey on launch day alongside the positive critical reception was the outcome the team had hoped for.
Developed by Ubisoft Singapore, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a full remake built using the latest version of the Anvil engine. It features rebuilt visuals alongside updated gameplay systems, including parry-focused combat, improved stealth and parkour, expanded naval gameplay, and additional story content.
Set during the Golden Age of Piracy, the game follows Edward Kenway as he sails across the Caribbean and becomes caught in the conflict between the Assassins and Templars. Along the way, players encounter historical figures including Blackbeard, Anne Bonny and Calico Jack while exploring the pirate republic at the centre of the story.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is available through Ubisoft+, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via the Ubisoft Store, Steam, including Steam Deck verification, and the Epic Games Store.
