Sony Interactive Entertainment and Team Asobi’s PS5 pack-in 3D platformer, Astro’s Playroom, has been updated with new content and PlayStation trophies.

The new update adds a mysterious portal in the center of the PS Labo as well as a new collection of items in the Gatcha Lab (in-game store for trading collectibles with coins). In addition, Astro’s Playroom has received 5 new trophies for players to unlock (1 Silver and 4 Bronze).

It is hinted that the new content is related to Astro’s next adventure in the upcoming Astro Bot, which is set for release on September 6, 2024, exclusively on PS5. It is a standalone, full-sized adventure that offers over 4 times the number of worlds seen in Astro’s Playroom, with more than 50 planets to explore, 300 bots to rescue and dozens of new powers and features to discover. The game will not feature any kind of multiplayer component, and is a single-player experience through and through. Additionally, it does not include a PSVR2 mode.

The upcoming title will not include any microtransactions or in-game purchases. Each planet will already have plenty of coins (in-game currency) for players to find and spend in the Gatcha Lab. In Astro Bot, players will rescue over 150 iconic VIP Bots inspired by legendary characters from 30 years of PlayStation history. The game will also feature a new flying vehicle known as the Dual Speeder, which the character will use to search for his Bot friends and explore regions that can’t be reached on foot, such as sky gardens, spooky graveyards, undersea cities, and scorching volcanoes.
