A custom Xbox controller and headset themed after Bethesda’s upcoming action role-playing game, Starfield, are reportedly in the works.
During the latest episode of The XboxEra podcast, K. Asante stated on chat that he has it on authority that the leaked images of a Starfield themed Xbox controller are real, and a headset is also on the way. He added that fans should not expect a custom themed Starfield Xbox Series X.
Nick stated that there are too many little telltale signs that make him think the controller is indeed real, such as the use of the color red under the analog sticks and the inside of the battery lid stating “FOR ALL, INTO THE STARFIELD”.
Microsoft has yet to confirm or deny the existence of a custom Starfield themed Xbox controller, though, given the high likelihood of it being real, an announcement is expected to happen sometime soon, leading up to the game’s release on September 6, 2023.
In related news, the Design Director for Starfield previously revealed that every prominent sci-fi movie and TV show out there has inspired the game’s development in some manner. Emil Pagliarulo took to Twitter to reveal that the game’s development has taken inspiration from just about every sci-fi movie and TV show out there. He gave the example of classics such as Space: 1999, Cowboy Bebop, Event Horizon, Silent Running, Star Wars, The Expanse, Star Trek, Aliens, and Battlestar Galactica.
Pagliarulo specifically highlighted the movie Prospect as one that has the Starfield vibe. He refrained from going into further specifics so as to avoid heading into spoiler territory.
The Starfield Design Director mentioned that the game will give players the opportunity to infiltrate the Crimson Fleet as a “space cop” and report back to their superiors, and suggested that fans ought to check out the Donnie Brasco movie while they wait for the game’s launch.
