A possible cut teaser for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Infinity has been discovered in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
YouTuber Sliderv2 has found a video clip hidden among the Assassin’s Creed Mirage game files, which contains a secret post credits modern day cutscene that is possibly a teaser for Assassin’s Creed Infinity. The video was cut from the final release due to unknown reasons, but remained in the game files.
The audio in the clip features a conversation between two Animus operators. One of them mentions filing her report, and asks if the other operator saw it. She asks him to watch the playback scrub to the end. There is mention of a “memory ghost” related to some 9th century DNA that is referred to as a gold mine. There is also mention of an individual called William Miles, who was responsible for the collection of the aforementioned “memory ghost”. This person is described by one of the Animus operators as an Assassin mentor, one of the last before the great shift. The conversation ends with both Animus operators going to grab some coffee.
During a past episode of Game Mess Decides podcast, host Jeff Grubb mentioned that Assassin’s Creed Infinity is likely to feature a biome that is set somewhere within Japan. It is Ubisoft’s big live service take on the Assassin’s Creed IP, and is likely to have multiple chapters or modules in rotation.
Based on what Grubb had heard, Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be much more like the RPG-centric games in the series. The point of the live service element is that Ubisoft will be able to add and replace biomes or modules after some time in an effort to keep things fresh for players. Japan may end up being one of these biomes as opposed to there being a dedicated Assassin’s Creed game set entirely in Japan.
