CD Projekt has just announced Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, the first expansion for its 2020 open world action role-playing game.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty is set to arrive sometime in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The studio has no plans to release the expansion on PS4 or Xbox One. A brief teaser for the DLC can be seen below.
The Phantom Liberty expansion will introduce brand new characters that the main character will meet in an all-new location in Night City. Keanu Reeves will return to play the role of Johnny Silverhand in the expansion.
“Johnny Silverhand is coming back and so am I,” said Reeves. “Get ready for Phantom Liberty, the upcoming expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s awesome to be back playing the role of Johnny and I hope you’re excited to see him rock it out once more in the dark future. Keep an eye out for more info and I’ll see you again in Night City.”
Meanwhile, an Edgerunners update (version 1.6) for the base game has also been announced. This patch will mark the end of support for the previous-gen versions of the game. Future updates will therefore be limited to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners update will allow players to equip new items from the anime series. This includes the jacket that David Martinez, the lead character in the anime, wears and a shotgun that another character uses. Additionally, it will include new features like a new clothing transmog system for changing your appearance, cross-platform progression, playable Roach Race arcade cabinets, and more.
Action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 was developed and released by CD Projekt on PlayStation 4, Stadia, Windows, and Xbox One on 10 December, 2020, followed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 15 February 2022. The story unfolds in Night City, a fictional city based in the United States of America. Players assume the role of a mercenary named V who can fight in a number of ways, including options for melee and ranged combat. They can also use stealth and hacking to their advantage.
