Kojima Productions is happy to disclose the first major sales update for Death Stranding more than a year since it launched back on PS4 and PC.
This is an impressive result considering Death Stranding is not just a new IP, it was also a unique ‘walking simulator’ that lacked the oomph of something like Metal Gear Solid, or the viral success of P.T from Kojima Productions. It was released back on the PS4 in November 2019, and it was followed by a PC release later in 2020.
The good news for fans is that a Director’s Cut is currently in development at Kojima Productions and it is all set to arrive later in September. There are plenty of new additions in this Director’s Cut and they should all contribute to a higher sales number once it is out.
The sad news is that this cut is only available for PC. Even ESRB has rated the PS5 version only which implies that PC and PS4 owners are out of luck. But if you have already purchased the game on a PS4, you don’t need to spend the full amount ($49.99) to get the game. You can simply upgrade by paying $9.99 and you will get the full game with the PS5 upgrade and additional content.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be released on September 24, 2021, for the PS5.
