Elden Ring Surpasses 30 Million Copies Sold Worldwide

by Ali Haider

FromSoftware has officially announced that Elden Ring has shipped over 30 million copies worldwide. The studio shared the news on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, thanking players everywhere for their ongoing support.

This is a huge milestone for Elden Ring, which first launched on February 25, 2022. Developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, the game had already hit 20 million copies shipped by February 2023. Back then, both companies credited its success to critical praise and fan excitement, noting how its vast world and deep lore resonated with players globally.

The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, launched in 2024, has only kept the game’s momentum going. It brought back returning players and gave a huge boost to sales of the base game. Because of its strong performance worldwide, Bandai Namco updated its financial forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025.

FromSoftware isn’t finished with the Elden Ring IP yet. While there’s no word on a sequel, they’re bringing the game to the Nintendo Switch 2 and releasing a brand-new spin-off called Elden Ring: Nightreign. It’s coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on May 29, 2025.

ER: Nightreign has gone through several network tests ahead of its official launch in May. This marks an experimental step for FromSoftware, a studio best known for single-player games like BloodborneSekiro, and Elden Ring – all of which helped establish new franchises for the developer.

Alongside Nightreign, FromSoftware is also working on The Duskbloods, a completely new title coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Elden Ring and its expansion Shadow of the Erdtree are available now on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
