Forspoken has been given a Mature rating by ESRB citing strong language and violence. It is due to release in March for the PS5 and PC.
Forspoken is an upcoming action RPG from Square Enix. It is being developed by Luminous Productions who have previously worked on Final Fantasy XV. The game is now confirmed to arrive on May 24, 2022, and will launch as a timed exclusive on PS5 in addition to PC.
We have already reported that Forspoken contains mature content which is why it has been rated Restricted in Taiwan. The same applies to the USA where ESRB has given it a Mature rating.
This is an action role-playing game in which player assume the role of a woman (Frey) who finds herself teleported to a fantasy world. As players try to find their way home, they can explore and traverse terrain, interact with characters, and battle fantastical creatures. Players use a magical vambrace and other attacks (e.g., leach, disperse, tendril) to defeat zombie-like creatures and monsters in frenetic combat. Battles are accompanied by colorful effects, screen-shaking, and cries of pain. Cutscenes depict additional acts of violence: a character attempting to jump off a building; monsters killing civilians; a character held at gunpoint. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” are heard in the game.
The game stars Ella Balinska as Frey Holland, a modern-day girl who is thrown into an unknown mystical world through a portal. She has to discover the secrets that threaten this land and save it from certain doom.
The game is released for the PS5 and PC and will be available from May 24, 2022. It uses the in-house Luminous Engine that was previously used for Final Fantasy XV.
