Game Science has hinted at the possibility of brand new content for its action role-playing game, Black Myth: Wukong, including a surprise for those who have yet to play the game.
Upon receiving the Ultimate Game of the Year award at the 2024 Golden Joystick Awards, Game Science’s Feng Ji thanked the players for purchasing the game. He said that it is their unwavering support that has helped the studio in overcoming all challenges and hardships, and allowing it to set foot on this “uncharted territory”.
Ji addressed those who have yet to try Black Myth: Wukong, saying that they are in luck, as they now have one more reason to give the game a try, hinting at the arrival of brand new content. Furthermore, he said that that those who may have already completed the game should also continue to follow the studio, as there may just be a surprise waiting for them later this year. The Game Science developer thanked everyone who voted for Black Myth: Wukong as Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards 2024.
Previously, Daniel Camilo, Publishing and Gaming Consultant in China, had reported that the success of Black Myth: Wukong has ensured funding of several different studios and games in China, including a major PS5 exclusive. He further stated that he has heard different accounts directly from those who have been working at different studios in China. He noted that the effect of Black Myth: Wukong’s success is real, although he didn’t have more specifics to share at this time, as he is currently in the process of trying to confirm details. The gaming consultant elaborated that the success of Black Myth: Wukong effectively pushed many Chinese investors to pour resources into different local studios. As per him, there are hundreds of active game studios in China. Regarding the aforementioned major PS5 exclusive, Camilo said that it is a well-known game, suggesting that he may have been referring to an already announced title.
