Gears 5 Jack Upgrades: Find All Jack Upgrades and Unlock Ultimate Abilities?
Gears 5 has a useful companion with Jack. This computer (or human) controller character can come quite handy in battles. Here’s how to find all his upgrades.
Jack is a robotic drone that will be available from the very first act. Initially, he has a different name but then once you clear the first act, Jack is introduced as an upgrade. You can also find new skills for him or upgrade his existing ones by looking for Gears 5 components that are scattered through every level.

Where To Find All Gears 5 Jack Upgrades and Unlock Ultimate Abilities?
Gears 5 Jack upgrades and abilities are found through the main story quests. You have to complete them in order to gain access to new abilities. In the start, you just have a few of them unlocked but once you discover more, you can then switch between the new and old abilities with the press of a button.
1. Flash Upgrade
This upgrade is tied to the story and will demonstrate the first Jack upgrade. You can get it in Act 1 in Braid’s Lab. It will stun the target for a short while.
Flash Upgrade Ultimate Ability
The ultimate ability for Flash Upgrade is Flash Freeze. It will stun the enemies for a longer period of time.
To unlock this ultimate ability, you need to complete the quest Hollow Storm Quest before Act 4 – Chapter 2.
2. Stim Upgrade
Another story related upgrade that will be unlocked in Act 1 – Chapter 4. It can be found in the laundry room ahead of the fire. This will give you a temporary armor to avoid any damage.
Stim Upgrade Ultimate Ability
The ultimate ability for Stim upgrade is called Brawler. It will increase melee damage up to 3 times more than regular letting you get up close and personal with enemies.
This ultimate ability can be found by completing the quest at Condor Crash Site as located on the world map.

3. Shock Trap Upgrade
This one is given at the start of Act 2 – Chapter 1. It is a part of the storyline so you can’t miss it. This gives the enemies an electric shock and can also be used for puzzles.
Shock Trap Upgrade Ultimate Ability
The ultimate ability for Shock Trap upgrade is called Seeker. It is the ideal ability to get since this will convert the shock traps into enemy seeking bots that can end up shocking them.
To unlock this ultimate ability, you need to complete the Lost Outsiders quest before Chapter 4 – Act 2.
4. Hijack Upgrade
The hijack upgrade is another story related ability for Jack. You can get it in Act 3 – Chapter 1. Just like the name says, it lets you control enemies for a small amount of time.
Hijack Upgrade Ultimate Ability
The ultimate upgrade for the Hijack ability is called Detonator Impact. It will basically make the enemy explode once you are done controlling them, damaging other surrounding enemies.
To unlock this ultimate ability, you need to complete the Scavengers Quest before Chapter 4 – Act 2.

5. Pulse Upgrade
This ability is given from the beginning. You can use this ability to get an overview of the area by sending a shock pulse that detects the enemies through walls and obstacles.
Pulse Upgrade Ultimate Ability
The ultimate ability for the Pulse upgrade is called Marked for Death. Any enemies that are marked through Pulse will get an additional 20% more damage than normal.
This ultimate ability can be found by completing the quest at Condor Crash Site as located on the world map.
6. Cloak Upgrade
The cloak upgrade is a story related ability given to Jack in Act 2 – Chapter 3. This will make the player invincible but an enemy fire might disable it.
Cloak Upgrade Ultimate Ability
The ultimate ability for the Cloak upgrade is called Slayer. It allows the players to remain cloaked even if the enemies shoot at them.
To unlock this ultimate ability, you will need to complete the Waterworks quest before Act 3 – Chapter 3.

7. Barrier Upgrade
This upgrade is given as part of the story in Act 3 – Chapter 3. It basically sets up a shield which protects the user from the enemy fire.
Barrier Upgrade Ultimate Ability
The ultimate ability for Barrier upgrade is called Ultimate Overload. It basically makes the shield damage enemies around once the time is up. It can lead to an explosion for the surrounding enemies.
The ultimate ability for Barrier upgrade can be found during the Swarmak fight in Act 4 – Chapter 1.
Gears 5 is out September 6 for Ultimate Edition or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate owners. It will launch on September 10 for the rest of the world and will release for PC and Xbox One.
