Lost Ark Achieves Fourth Biggest Launch on Steam

by Greg Martin

Lost Ark has achieved the fourth biggest launch for a game on Steam with nearly 1 million concurrent users that jumped online to play it.

The game nearly peaked with 983K users during its launch day, which is just short of 1 million. It also makes the game the fourth biggest launch ever on Steam, which is an incredible milestone itself.

Here are the top launches for any games that are available on Steam. (Updated)

  • PUBG (3.2 million)
  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (1.3 million)
  • DOTA 2 (1.29 million)
  • Lost Ark (1.08 million)
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (1.05 million)

Lost Ark is an MMORPG from Korean developer Smilegate. It has been available in Asia for a while and it was finally getting localized and released in the Western market. The launch of the game on Steam shows its popularity with the surge of concurrent users.

To address the successful launch of the game on Steam, the developers have shared an update giving an overview of their plans. They have placed a limit on character creation until they can handle the launch server woes.

Earlier today, we put a limit on the creation of characters by new players on servers that have reached large queue times. This will aid in preventing queues from increasing further as our player base continues to grow. If you already have a character on one of these servers, you will still be able create additional characters for your Roster.

This character creation limit will be an active process, and we may add or remove these restrictions based on current queue times and how many characters exist on a server. Please also note that you will need to reload the game in order for servers with freshly removed limits to show as available for character creation.

Lost Ark is available to play now on Steam.
